How are you?

Good morning my friends ~ I have been away from blog land for a little while ~

Unfortunately, our family is going through some trials lately and frankly I have just been too exhausted to blog ~

I am going to warn you now. If you are looking for a funny, pretty post ~ it's not going to happen here ~ sooo, I will share with you now ~

As you may know, Mr. Vintage had his surgery in November and unfortunately, there were complications with the epidural.  He is partially paralyzed on his left side from his chest to his hip.  He is in constant pain and can't do much of anything.  We have gone to doctors, doctors and more doctors.  He has had cat scans and ultrasounds and a myriad of other tests and we are now being told that he has nerve damage and it may not heal ~ now we wait to see if the nerves regenerate.  It is a waiting game.

So, every day, I get up and go to work ~ having my wonderful husband in the back of my mind.  Then I come home and do everything that he used to do and ofcourse what I always do.  He is so wonderful, he tries so hard.  He does make dinner on week nights and he helps with the dishes as much as he can.  Because of the pain, he can't walk very well and can't even bend over.  I usually fall into bed around 8:00 every night as I am exhausted.   I am still sleeping in the spare room, as I would not want to rock the boat when he is in so much pain.  He doesn't sleep well and gets up 5 or 6 times every night.

I am also trying to deal with my daughter's father's estate business ~ he didn't deal with it prior to his passing.  I am blessed in that I work for a law firm and they handle that kind of thing.

We have our house on the market, because without his income, we are struggling to make ends meet.  Sometimes, I just get overwhelmed.  But I have to thank the good Lord that I have a full time job.

We still have sweet Chessie, who likes to curl up next to me (he thinks he's a lap dog) ;-)  Animals do bring our blood pressure down ~ I can attest to that.

So there you have it.  My life, not so pretty right now.  I can only pray that we get through this and that brighter days are ahead.  I am still trying to smile, albeit, sometimes through tears.

I have missed all of you so much.

Thank you Brenda ;-)

(((Hugs)))

  4. I am deeply sorry for all that you are having to deal with right now. I will be praying for you and your husband. I don't mind you venting at all. I think it is a gift that we can all support each other here in blogland.

  5. Even though you are very sad, you still posted pretty photos of your home. So you gave us beauty despite the feeling that you didn't. Women have to hold one another up. And when one is able to stand, she must be there to hold the next one up. Because we are nurturing creatures, able to bear children, able to bear pain. I think of us as a sisterhood. This sisterhood just happens to be in the Land Of Blog. So many people held me up during some of my very darkest days. I will proudly stand next to my sisters while we hold you up. You are much loved.
    xoxo, Brenda

  7. It's brave of you to share what is the truth about your life right now. I've found that readers want to know, want to help you and send words of support. I am so sorry to hear of your husband's problems and the worries that surround you. Know that each of us is sending you love and support as you go through these tough times. I pray your husband finds healing and that you all come out of this stronger and happier than ever.

  9. What an unbearably painful trial - can your law firm bring a malpractice suit against whoever made this mistake? You will surely need the money! Can your husband get disability? (Listen to me, I want to jump right in and fix as much as I can, right away! Like you haven't already thought of all this - sorry!) I do wish I was there to hug you and to do some of the practical things to help - but from here I will pray and tell you that we are all here for you and it will continue to be that way. Hugs ~ Mary

  13. I am so sorry to hear about your pain right now. It is such a good reminder that there are real people with real lives behind the pretty pictures. I will add you and your dear husband to my list of prayer requests and hope that you will find peace as you wait for healing. All you can do is take one day at a time...God is good and it will all work out in time. I wish I had some magic words but all I have is a cyber hug and a heartfelt prayer. Patty

  15. I think one of the hardest things to get over when you have a sick husband is just that, it's your husband, gosh dang it HE'S NOT SUPPOSED TO BE SICK. Mine has been sick for 7 yrs now with a severe illness. When they become sick we have to take over a lot of other responsibilities that they usually did, and every day the responsibility becomes greater. Not that that is a bad thing, but it's painful to watch the one you love become so disabled. And you're still working, so you have that responsibility, too. It's a tough road. I had back surgery in 08 and they fused it, so I know how much he's hurting. My thoughts and prayers go out to you that they can ease his pain some and do what they can to make him more comfortable. 16. Hi Marianne ~ I'm a new reader. I saw your comment on Brenda's blog and you sounded so authentic - plus I liked your blog name - so I thought I'd hop over here to check your blog out. I am sorry you're going through so many trials right now. Life is rarely easy, is it? I think so many of us women hide behind our smiles. Thank you for sharing with us out in blogland. I hope to get to know you better through our mutual blogs. As for my own little life, I lost my oldest son (at the age of 21) 2-1/2 years ago; we have some other stressful things going on with our younger son (who is now 21); and I work outside the home 3 days/week at a job that I don't like and is very stressful...so that in turn has caused me to have IBS. I don't want to come off as sounding whiny - especially as a new reader! But I thought I'd share some of my trials behind my smile as well. Other than all that, my life is good ~ I have a fantastic husband, a roof over our heads, and supportive family and friends. I try to remain positive and put that smile on my face even though sometimes, I don't feel like it. :-)

    Hugs,
    Melanie

  17. Dear Marianne,
I am so sorry life is challenging for you and your husband right now. I wish I knew what I could say to comfort or encourage you. I know that in my own life I sometimes am dealt a hand of cards that I have never wanted or asked for, yet when I look back on the hard times of my life, there always seems to be a learning experience, or new appreciation that came out of those situations. Keep your chin up and know that God is always willing to comfort and help those who ask Him. You and your family will be in my prayers.

    love,
    Danielle

  18. Oh Marianne, you certainly have been through your share of trial recently. You have much love and support from your blog buddies. You know what they say, it's always darkest before the dawn. Keep that wonderful positive attitude, it will help you so much. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't scream and cry when you need to though. I truly believe things will get better. Blessings to you all.

  20. Dearest Marianne,
I'm so sorry to hear that things are not well. Keep smiling through your tears, my friend and remember that God is good and He's good all of the time. "Put on the garment of Praise for the spirit of heaviness." Praising does help.
    Big hugs, Cindy

Sometimes, I am sure, It seems like to much to bear.

  28. Hi Marianne- I popped over from Brenda's and I'm glad I did. I am sorry to hear you are struggling with family issues right now. Life does have it's ups and downs, that's for sure. I hope that things begin to change soon for you. I am also from Ontario and don't even know where Harrow is. I see that we both love the old dishes so we do have something in common, for sure. 31. I am so sorry for all your struggles. I've never been to your blog before and came to it through Brenda's. Your honesty is refreshing and your life is something we can all relate to. Life is full of trials and tribulations, something we don't like or want. I try to embrace these things as much as the good things because they are truly what make us better people and mold our character. I will pray that God gives you the strength to get through each day and ease your husband's pain. So glad I met you ~ Cindy
