Chicken Tractor Yay ~

Good morning everyone ~ I hope you are having a wonderful Thursday ;-)

I have to share with you...something that I have always wanted... Chickens ~

Mr. Vintage took this to heart and we have ordered six peeps. But where would we keep them?  Well, Mr. Vintage did it again...he is building me a chicken tractor~!

He started today.  This little beauty will hold six chickens comfortably and the rail in the front will be covered with chicken wire.  That's their front yard.  This will be put on wheels so that we can move it around the yard and the chickens will not eat the grass until it's dirt.

He's building it in the driveway and once finished, it will be moved to our back yard.

Ofcourse, I am going to paint it and make it a little vintage barn for my chickens.  Organic eggs ~ yum ~!  We have done our homework and we do live in the country.  I have picked Plymouth Rocks for our chickens ~ they are pretty and look like this

I'll keep you posted ~

I'm so excited~!!! What exciting things have happened to you today?

(((Hugs)))
Marianne

  7. Love your idea for a chicken tractor. I have been toying with the idea if I want chickens as we live in the country as well. But I am not sure if I am up for all the work.

  13. That is exciting! We live in the country and several people have chicken coops. One home has about a dozen free range chickens and a rooster which we can hear crowing from down the road :-) I love it! Have a great day! Pamela

  14. How exciting! You'll have to talk to "Jemm in the Flint Hills" about her chicks!
My daughter spent part of last summer on a sustainable farm in West Virginia, and they had a chicken tractor there. It's a very "green" way of raising chickens.

  18. Our son and daughter-in-law live in the country and have chickens. They have brought us eggs from time to time. Sometimes they have plenty, other times just a few, but they enjoy the chickens. Our 4 yr old grandson had a run-in with a rooster about a year ago, so now he has more respect for them! :-)

  19. Hi Marianne! The brown and Off white eggs from my basket post came from our chickens. We want your new coop! The first time we saw it we knew how smart it is. So happy for you!

  20. Marianne, I just had a few minutes to hop around and see my blogging friends tonight, and oh my goodness you have a chicken coop being built! I love it, and would love to have chicks myself. This will not happen. I live in the city and they don't take to kindly to farm animals. They just don't know what their missing. But now I can come here and visit yours. So excited for you!

  21. Hi Marianne,
When your hubby is done over there can you send him over to my house to build one for me? :-) I too want some chickens. Not sure if they're allowed in my neighborhood though. Can't wait to see your chicken tractor all done. Have a wonderful weekend.

    Hugs and Kisses,
    ♥Ana
