Playing in the kitchen~

Happy Sunday my friends ~ This weekend I have been playing in the kitchen ~

Last night, I made a shrimp pasta dinner for Mr. Vintage ~

It was yummy, Shrimp, Spinach and Asiago cheese ~ mmmm ~

It was such a lovely evening last night, that we went to the deck and had a lovely glass of wine and just relaxed.  It was a bit chilly but beautiful ~

Mr. Vintage bought some apples from a local farmer ~ they were really crispy and crunchy ~

They were starting to get soft ~ sooo ~ this morning, I made applesauce ~

This afternoon, I will be making apple pie and for dinner, meatloaf and mashed potatoes ~ yum ~

Having you been playing in the kitchen lately?

Down Home Living ~

Hello ~ I just love my roses.  They are loving this cool weather we are having ~

First of all, I would like to THANK YOU for all of the lovely comments on my new "Look".  I am still loving it.

I have been thinking.....I visited Elaine and she has some concerns about the way the economy is going.    I think we are all concerned. Gas prices are crazy, Food prices are sky rocketing.....you all know, these are hard times.

Let's take a fresh view ~ maybe it's time to ~

Bake our own bread ~

Cook hearty meals on a shoe string budget ~

Can our own foods ~

Most of us bloggers already visit the thrift stores.  I think they make all of us smile with the little treasures we pick up, but they also carry gently used clothing.  I pick up clothing all the time.  I work in an office and women's suits are expensive.  I can find a gently used woman's office suit for $5.00, have it cleaned and voila for $10.00, I have a $100.00 suit.  If I ruin it at work (like I have, getting toner on my clothes or writing with pen on my clothes), I'm not upset because I have a $10.00 investment.

And you know, vintage clothing is in style ~

Do you have any ideas how we can be more frugal?

Please share your ideas with us.  I can't wait to hear.  I KNOW you will have some terrific ideas ~

the new me~!

Hello once again my friends ~  Sofie and I are enjoying our time together ~ what a sweety she is ;-)

Can I be honest about something?  For some time now, I have been thinking of changing hair colour ~  I have been blonde all my life (my natural colour is a dirty blonde ~ now with a lttle touch of grey as they say, but I've been helping it along...... you know~)

So I asked Mr. Vintage what he thought about changing my hair colour ~ He raised one eyebrow and asked "What colour do you wish to change to?".  I told him I didn't know, but, I needed a change ~

My mother had dark hair and blue eyes.  She was very beautiful.  When people see my mother's picture, they say "Oh my you are the spitting image of your mom".  Well,  Off to the salon I went ~

AND here I am today ~

Well, I have to tell you ~ I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it~! Mr. Vintage loves it too ~ He told me I looked much younger.  Sigh ~ I love that man ~

What do you think?

Changes ~

Happy Sunday my friends ~ I hope all is well with you ~

As you know, there are big changes happening at the Vintage residence ~ our Britt is spreading her wings and has found her own nest.  She will be moving November 13, so we have been busy packing (I didn't know how much stuff a 23 year old could have~!)

It's a beautiful fall day and as I stroll through the back yard, it seems that my flowers are trying to give me one last show, stretching their blooms up to the sun to find warmth ~

Soon they will be in a deep wintery slumber ~

I am enjoying their last show ~ just for me ;-)

Even my little garden fairy seems to be pondering the fall season.  Her wings are a little crooked, but I love her still ~

My girls are even enjoying this lovely fall weather ~ just a peckin' and a scratchin'

Rosie always enjoys herself and likes to take a stroll with me through the yard ~

Hey ~ wait for me~!  (that's Gabbie)

Mr. Vintage and I have put the house on the market for sale ~ we've decided the house is just too big for the two of us ~

Now, we have to find a house ~ there are other changes happening too ~  I'll share them with you next time.

What are you doing today?  Have you gone through any changes?

Can't wait to hear from you

Chilly~?

Happy Sunday my friends ~

Well, yesterday was a lazy day.  There was a chill in the air soooo, I decided to make chilli ~

And home made bread, ofcourse ~

It was yummy ~

Would you like a bowl?

I also tweaked my little reading corner.  I picked up this chenille bedspread at the local consignment shop yesterday and just decided it was going to become a slip cover for my chair.

I love chenille, it's so cozy

Then, I decided I was going to make this ~

Yes, I made a sweater pumpkin~!

I think it turned out o.k. for my first attempt ~

Then, Mr. Vintage came home and he brought another treasure home with him, sigh ~ he's the best ~

Mr. Vintage found this little chair in the scrap bin at his friend's house.  I just love it

It was a wonderful day ~

Monday is Thanksgiving.  We are going to have turkey and stuffing with all the trimmings.  Britt and Frankie will be coming for dinner ~

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my Canadian blogging friends
