Finally it's completed ~

Hello my friends.  It is a glorious morning ;-)

I cannot believe that it is September.  

I have been so busy trying to get our bathroom completed downstairs.  I finally finished my bathroom, 

which I absolutely love, but poor Mr. Vintage, his bathroom was a wreck.

Here is the bathroom before

It was awful.  Very dated ~ but, we finally finished.  We started in May and then my father-in-law passed away and we started painting Mom's house.  This was put on the back burner.  I am very happy to say that we finished~and here it is 

I am so pleased with it. Mr. Vintage loves it! Hmmmmm, I think it's time to do the living room~ I see a lot of decorating in the future.

It's almost gone ~

Hello my friends ~  I have been quite neglectful of you of late and I apologize ~

Mr. Vintage and I have been relaxing ~ camping and just trying to take it easy this summer ~

We have been to some beautiful spots camping ~

The summer has just flown by and is almost gone.  

Before fall sets in, I am painting my picket fence in the back yard ~ Yes my friends, I decided to paint it white ;-)

I also have a helper ~

I am helping my mommy paint the fence ~ I guess I am a little messy

Do you want to help paint the fence too?

farmhouse bathroom

Hello my friends and happy Sunday ~

I have been busy redecorating my bathroom. I have always loved the romantic prairie style ~soooooo......

Here is the bathroom before ~ yuck.  I could not relax when taking a nice hot bath looking at this.

I love romantic touches, like this little beauty that I picked up at a yard sale ~ $1.00

of course, dried roses are always a nice touch

This little bird soap holder is just so cute and it has just the right patina ~ another yard sale find ;-)

Kind of looks the same, but not quite ~

Love this little vintage tin.  I keep extra rolls in it ~

A little lace always is wonderful

Love this towel holder.  I found this at an antique store ~

And of course, I had to have a little farmhouse ladder to hold hand towels.

Well, there you have it.  An old dresser that we had, a new sink and taps and a few yard sale/antiquing treasures and I can now really relax in my new bathroom.

for the Love of a Bowl

Hello my friends ~ How have you been?

We have been doing well ~ I have been on a quest for the last little while for a wooden bowl for my farmhouse kitchen ~

I posted about it here

While in Aberfoyle, I looked high and I looked low and I could NOT find a wooden bowl to put on my farmhouse table.  Well, I just about gave up and then to my complete surprise ~

I found one ;-)

I love the markings on this bowl ~

and I love the look on my farmhouse table.  Well, now, can you guess where I found this bowl?

Ahem,  my friends, I found this bowl in my own kitchen cupboard.  Well, now I know it is time to clean out the kitchen cupboards to see what other treasures are in there.

No wonder I could not find a wooden bowl.  The good Lord knew I already had one ;-)

Good morning my friends ~ Today is a beautiful day.  The sun is shining and the humidity has finally left ~ it is quite comfortable out ~

Come sit on the porch with me and relax ~

have a cup of tea and a piece of banana bread and tell me ....

It's been a while

Hello my friends, it has been a while ~

There have been storm clouds at the Vintage household.  As you may know, my father in law passed on June 4, 2013.  We will miss him terribly ~

And then......

Aunt Judy passed away on July 18 after a brief battle with cancer.

But ~ we must look upward and seek strength. For after the storm clouds roll away ~

Blue skies emerge ~

and rainbows appear ~

and you just know, the Lord is with you, giving you the strength to take one step at a time, to put one foot in front of the other and to keep going ~

"He is my strength and my Salvation, whom shall I fear?"

nothing and no one  ~ for the Lord is with me ~

I still see beauty everywhere ~

I now take the time to stop and really absorb all of the beauty around me ~

For it is everywhere ~

Even my favourite rock ~

My friends, take the time to hug your family, look around you and really enjoy all of nature's wonders, hold each other close ~ 

Time is precious ~ slow down, relax, and enjoy life ~ We have learned that life is precious and we take the time to enjoy each moment ~ even the smallest of things ~

I hope you missed me as much as I have missed all of you ~

Mom is doing better these days.  It's going to be hard for her for a while, but we stay close.

Soon I will be back to my old antics (yep, yard sales, creating ~ you know).  I don't want to miss a second ;-)
